Hi, last week my engine management light came on, greenflag said it was nox sensor, it is driving perfectly no symptoms is this possible. Contacted mercedes but wouldn't say only book it in for diagnostic check £174. The part appears to be very expensive £515. My car is 2014 but only done 35k. If anyone can offer advice please

Hi, it has full service history but at a authorised garage but not mercedes itself, the garage is able to log in online to say its been serviced

Hi , from my experience Mercedes do appear to consider goodwill payments out of warranty but requires Mercedes Benz service history.

Not what you want to hear.

However , why don't you take a car to a MOT garage and see what the exhaust gases are like , much cheaper than going to Mercedes.

Usage does effect Nox sensor if only used on short journeys.

You then have a starting point to move forward.

Hope other members have other suggestions.

Have you searched the forum.

All work FOC
Much more if you search

Thanks I will get it tested, first mercedes may be my last !

I would take it to a main dealer and push for replacement as a goodwill gesture, especially if it has had the emissions upgrade carried out recently. You will probably need to do something about it sooner rather than later even if it isn't affecting performance as you will probably start to get a countdown to the car not starting.

Your specialist should be able to test the sensor without having to go to MB and they will be cheaper. I know it will be a bit of a gamble as there is a slight chance that MB might do it under goodwill, but your Indy may well also have an arrangement with MB. I would go for the least cost option and hope for the best!

Thanks Martyn, I haven't had the update done yet they are saying to take it in for update and they will charge £174 to diagnose problem after, bit afraid I will end up with a huge bill after. I've read lots of problems after the update with driving issues have you read that?

I have read it but have not experienced it myself, all I got after a few miles was failed nox sensors and you don't need to worry about that happening!
It seems a bit of a piss take to charge for pulling the codes, I suspect that they would do this as a matter of course before updating the map anyway. If you are sitting on the recall letter I would take the car in for the recall and not mention the warning light and see what happens.
