NTG1 or NTG2

hi I am getting confused with the stereo which is installed in my recently acquired car. Has the NTG1 got the single slot as well? I have either got ntg1 or ntg2 but mine has the slot... no hard drive or card slot. I went into car boot and there is a panel on LHS and what looks like black fuse box but there is no sat Nav drive... when I remove the carpeted access panel... behind this is just grey carpet with and steel cage hidden behind. without sounding too thick... the single slot is for cd's or DVDs ( I tried a film and all fine) this is NOT for the sat NAV disc? I am presuming that mine does not have the sat nav facility then? slightly different question.... where can I locate details about DVD in motion? im presuming when I drive the car the screen will go blank

OK I think your Comand should be the same as mine (W211 04). I have the DVD drive in the boot which is where the Comand dvd should go. The apeture above the screen is where you put DVD's to play films. This apeture also plays home burned CDR's unlike the 6 disc changer which is revealed by pressing that small chrome bar below the hazard warning light switch.

I doubt you will find anywhere reputable that will enable DVD in motion. It's dangerous and would invalidate your insurance if found after an accident. Same with TV on the move. Don't think about it.

Is this the same as your Comand unit?

Have you tried using the Sat nav feature yet?
Mine works fine even though the disc is indoors in a box.

Many thanks.... Yes mine the same... Will leave as is.. No mod for tv in motion... Not worth the risk... Anyway i dont think i have sat nav unit? Or was removed... I looked in boot and behind access panel on LHS but nothing, not even a void where unit may have resided? Its not major deal as always use tomtom as easier but would have been nice to know especially before i bought latest maps!

The car may have come with audio 20 cassette or audio 50 and the previous owner upgraded to Comand but didnt fit the nav processor. Some do the upgrade so they can get the aux input which is only on the Comand unit for NTG1 (on W211 upto MY09).
