ntg2.5 comand can you check my firmware please

On the NTG 2.5 you can alter whether the radio mutes as she speaks or it stays the same and she talks along with it...
I find it less annoying to have her talk along with it..
The human brain is excellent at filtering what it wants to listen to...

Hi guys,
Went the MB dealership today to ask about updating my datacard and was told that it would have to be put on the star system and connect to Mercedes , and it would seem that they now charge for this, and that charge is around £160

Could someone with more knowledge tell me what the date of my software is in the picture below , I have read that is is the 3rd and 4th numbers which would make it 08- 13 what is that month and day not sure.
Everything is working great, but would like to update the maps and possible firmware without too much trouble, there are other images of my other settings screen in the first post if more info is need

Well did a bit of checking and it seem that it is the original firmware 09/2008 Why they can just put the date is beyond me

One more question for you guys, where can I check how many satellites the NTG2.5 is locked onto

I have a the us version, and it was telling me to go to " Position- Compass but I could not find compass ,

Went into Service mode and found some more menus went into satellite etc. and the information was there showing connected to 5 satellites, Whats the norm?, got my GPS Ariel near comand under the dash , think i read that MB stated that was the best place, but might get an external one at some point.

seem they are the US version, are they the same as the UK version?
Compass is not there for me, perhaps added at another firmware update

GPS needs to be as high as possible and clear view.
Take the cluster out and push it up in the dash right above the cluster.
When mine was there I had 5 max.
I now have a roof GPS and have 7 to 9 at any time.

With regards the original post... it seems that there are some firmware bits that are encoded in the electronic chips and can not be updated, in which case the version display simply shows what was factory-fitted with the device, and some firmware bits that can be updated.

I believe that my unit has the latest version of all the bits of firmware that can be updated, so for what it's worth here it is:

Mine certainly has its original software install,
The guys at the place where my alarm was fitter yesterday said they could not update it, and I should take it to MB, they have a star system, But they did say they activated the rear camera at my request, but at the moment I can't test because I don't have a camera installed, presumed I would have some extra menu with it activated but there is nothing, maybe when the camera is installed.
Was just wondering if it would be possible to update the comand 2.5 on the bench would be nice to send it to Comand online and get them to update it without the 4 hour drive, I just hate driving long distances. and don't fancy giving it to MB and say do it without some form of cost idea.

everything works as it should I have no steering wheel controls just need the firmware updating so I can install the latest maps, what do you guys think

With regards reversing camera, as far as I know the image comes-up automatically on screen when reverse gear is selected - but I am not sure as don't actually have a camera installed.

Me nether, just thought would get it activated whilst it was in there, when I went to pick it up they said that comand had been updated and the camera switch on and I thought great ,but when I check the firmware was still the same, so not sure they have activated the camera and I wasn't planing on installing it just yet, still deciding on which one to go with. But thought I had read that there was some kind of menu to switch it on or off once it had been activated.
I also read that they would not be able to communicate with the comand because it was a retro fit and presume they must have done that to activate the camera

Just had ntg2.5 retrofitted in my 2009 sprinter as well, mine is a 2010 unit and so far no issues. Going to get my rear view camera fitted soon.

How do you access the Menu which tells you the software version?

Press hangup ( red phone ) * 6 together when menu comes up select software update then the first item on the bottom menu it should then come up with you software version (all from memory so hope I got I all right )
