ntg2.5 comand can you check my firmware please

Press hangup ( red phone ) * 6 together when menu comes up select software update then the first item on the bottom menu it should then come up with you software version (all from memory so hope I got I all right )

Don't just press them briefly, the combination Hang-Up + * + 6 should be held pressed down for a few seconds before the Engineering Mode screen appears.

Thanks,

Mine certainly has its original software install,
The guys at the place where my alarm was fitter yesterday said they could not update it, and I should take it to MB, they have a star system, But they did say they activated the rear camera at my request, but at the moment I can't test because I don't have a camera installed, presumed I would have some extra menu with it activated but there is nothing, maybe when the camera is installed.
Was just wondering if it would be possible to update the comand 2.5 on the bench would be nice to send it to Comand online and get them to update it without the 4 hour drive, I just hate driving long distances. and don't fancy giving it to MB and say do it without some form of cost idea.

everything works as it should I have no steering wheel controls just need the firmware updating so I can install the latest maps, what do you guys think

Me nether, just thought would get it activated whilst it was in there, when I went to pick it up they said that comand had been updated and the camera switch on and I thought great ,but when I check the firmware was still the same, so not sure they have activated the camera and I wasn't planing on installing it just yet, still deciding on which one to go with. But thought I had read that there was some kind of menu to switch it on or off once it had been activated.
I also read that they would not be able to communicate with the comand because it was a retro fit and presume they must have done that to activate the camera

Any more ideas on this guys

  1. Does the vehical have to be present to update the firmware
  2. should there be any additional menu's when the rear camera is activalted

1. As far as I know, yes the vehicle has to be present in order to have the
firmware updated. The other issue you may have is getting your ntg2.5 unit
to show up on STAR, as most sprinters were not fitted with a central gateway
module.

2. The rear view camera as well as DAB and tv have been activated on my unit.
When I select the rear view camera option in the setting menu, all I get is a
blank screen with a message saying check vehicle surroundings.
I will try get some pics for you of my ntg2.5 unit.

The guys at mobile solution in derby told me that they had activated it and charged me for doing so, they have a star system but being as I had not installed a camera yet wasn't sure if the camera needed to be connected for anything to show up.
So you are saying that your camera port as been activated and you have no camera installed but you are able to see settings for the camera in the settings menu , Looks like I will need to get in touch

Perhaps I should contact Comand online

thanks

Well guys

I have contacted Comand Online and the good news they can update my comand for a very reasonable cost, The bad news is I got to drive down there :(

I would still like to know though if my rear view camera was activated should I see something in the menus even though there is no camera connected, bearing in mine I am on old software
anyone help need to confirm so I can get a refund from the company who said they had done it

Yep Comand online are the best guys to deal with, they know what they are doing :thumb: . If only I was more closer to them.

If you have had rear view camera activated then yes you should see a 'reverse camera' option in settings. Can't get a pic yet as my van is currently in use , and I haven't had the chance to take a pic.

As Jass says there is a box to tick for the rear view camera when coded.
I went down the M40 and was there for 9am, nice easy drive and easy to get to.
They guys are sound and will do what you need, ask if they can do fuel remaining as well.
They did mine and I use it all the time, but that is in a Vito so not sure it's even possible in a Sprinter.

Buy a camera before you go and also you need a Fakra to Phono lead, get all this in before you go down, even if not fitted at the rear it will work with a ground and power.
They will also update your data card.
Jass did you get the gateway fitted?
I worry about updating the maps on mine, if I buy the disc from Comand on line will I have to go down again as Star cannot find my NTG2.5.
Thats why I am still looking for the wiring for the gateway.

Zenman63,

Not yet, just been busy and my van is in constant use. I will probably get round to it when I get the LCD cluster and multifunction steering wheel fitted.

Jazz so was this done before the unit was fitted?

Thats how my first and second one came to me but had to return it with a jammed CD drive.
The third one came with nothing activated, thats when I found my MB dealers could not find it anywhere on Star and had to go down to comand for them to do it.

Yes they are (the best guys)... and luckily I am (close to them) ;)

Hi Guys,

can some tell me exactly where to look for the camera switch, I know its not there, but perhaps I might have missed, and I don't want to go and complain without getting my facts right :D
