Hi,

Quick question. I've read up on this on DVLA but I just wanted to be absolutely sure.

My car is on a K plate = 1992.

The plate I want is Yxxxx.

Can I put this on my car? Y is something like 1998 but this is a 5 character long plate so maybe there's some rule that says I can do it.

Please tell me there is...

My understanding is that you cannot put an age related plate onto a car so that it might indicate the car is younger than it actually is. So - depends on waht your Yxxxx is. If that is Y 1 ABC or sim then I don't think you can do it. If it's Y1234 or some other combination of letters and numbers that don't indicate age I think you will be OK.

If the Y is followed by numbers and then letters, then 100% No, DVLA will not assign it.

If the Y is followed by letters and then number or just numbers, then YES, DVLA will assign it with out any problems

Thank you for your responses.

Looks like a definite no then. Such a shame.
