Just curious whats happening in 2010 when the first 2010 plate is due, ie 2009 was 09 and 59 what will the plates be for 2010?

Thanks for reply so 2011 will be 11 and 61?

the first half reg will be 10, and then the second half reg will be 60

As Above

Plate format from 2010
From 2010, the year identifying number will continue to use the last two digits of the year for cars registered in March, with 50 added to that number for those registered in September.

So, for example:

2010: March 10 and September 60
2011: 11 and 61
2012: 12 and 62
2013: 13 and 63
2014: 14 and 64 etc.

Ah, I was wondering about this myself, thanks guys!

We were talking about this over the weekend and between the 6 of us we didn't have a clue.
Thanks chaps

It scales well up to 2049. The last plated of these style will be XX49 and XX99
then what? switching to some kinda EU regulated ones?

I reckon your question will be academic by then as the politcians will have taxed car users so heavily that nobody will be able to afford to drive anyway! They will be able to afford it of course - just claim it back on expenses.....
