Hi all, back in the land of Merc' after a brief hiatus... Picked up yesterday from a dealer 80 miles away and near home the EML light came on. The following is the list of points of note, I've highlighted back to the dealer.

Engine cooling fan on constantly – reported to & noted by ********** on day of purchase.
Engine Warning Light illuminated – reported to and recorded by *****. Authorised to have an OBD read by my local (anon) garage. Recorded fault emailed previously with photo attachment detailing:
“P06DA00 – The actuation of the valve of the oil pump in the combustion engine has an electrical fault or an open circuit. There is a General Failure. Current , Pending.”
The air conditioning does not work all the time. Intermittent cooling but mainly blowing warm, not hot, air.
The reading lights do not illuminate.
The interior lights in the boot do not illuminate when the tailgate is opened.
Poss’ faulty tyre pressure sensor, drivers side rear.

A quick search on an MB forum suggests points 1 & 3 COULD be related.
The dealer has offered to cover the cost pf the read & the diagnosis of the AC issue. My local indy, & good for them, has managed to survive the covid intact and is quite busy so can't get round to digging deeper into the above until middle of next week which I'd rather not have to wait for.
Do the details above sound bad enough to consider returning the car as I'm nervous about driving it right now.
Apologies for the long post & thanks in advance for your indulgence...
(Other than the above, really is a LOVELY car)!

Yet another new second hand car bought from miles away with faults,I know we all like a bargain, but come on bite the bullet and take it back and say put it right.

Getting to that point tbh. I’ve been looking for ages and this right colour/ spec/ price came up. Read the positive reviews, plenty, solo test drive due to distance regs etc, and all appeared to be what it should. I’ve bought plenty of vehicles out of my area over the years with no hassle or negatives too.

Long wait for an update to this... Car returned, bought a Golf GTD, hated it and finally back in the land of Mercedes(!) The mrs just bought a 13 plate 250 SLK with just 25K on the clock and absolutely loves it too - happy days again...
C220D 4matic and I am absolutely stoked with it :) Car.jpg

I would like to believe that it is an exception to the rule. My current car is the second car I have bought from a dealer based miles away. My current car was bought from a dealer in Whitstable in Kent, 150 miles from here, the dealer delivered it and I have not a single complaint about the car. Everything was as described, even the paintwork. I had never dealt with this company prior to this and would most certainly buy from them again. :)

Appreciate that, thank you.
You are welcome. We are all here because we like cars. I wouldn't feel too bad about getting rid of the Golf. I bought something that lasted under a month recently (January). I bought one of those Cupra estates. pre reg with 300 bhp just before my c300 and hated it. I lost a lot of money but couldn't live with the cheapo interior and the more I used it, the more cheapo cost cutting things i found on it. Luckily I got my c300 at a really good price and if I got rid now, I wouldn't be losing very much at all

Thanks again SarahAnn200 (spoken like a fellow Yorkie ;-) (Harrogate here)). Luckily I didn't lose too much on the Golf, have paid a bit more than I wanted to for the Merc' but it has everything I wanted (well, except the 250 engine but trying to find one and on budget was nigh on impossible). Pan' roof, 4WD, lovely interior (as per your post, it just didn't feel premium in the Golf). I travelled a LONG way to get this but as soon as I sat in it, it just felt right and with the dealer warranty, it was a no brainer for me. Thanks again for the comm's, good to "talk" with you...
