    Hi everyone,

Does anyone know whether a 2005 W220 S500 has a OBD socket? If yes, which type of OBD does it have?

I would like to buy an aftermarket HUD speed display but I am not sure if it will work on this car.

    Any help is much appreciated.

    Cheers :thumb:

It will have an OBD2 rectangular socket under the dash.

    Thanks!

So do you think that any aftermarket HUD speed display with OBD 2 (male) will work on my car?

    Cheers

In theory. The actual amount of data output by your OBD2 port depends on your vehicle. I don't know what data is output by W220s, but the cheapest way to see is to get a bluetooth OBD2 adaptor and the Torque app for Android and see what it spits out at you. This will set you back around £10 total.

The OBD2 standard is just that - a standard. So although the level of info output varies, it's all spit out in a uniform way. So any OBD2 HUD will work.

Edit: Think of it like this forum. There's no rule governing what I have to tell you, so I can choose to tell you the bare bones, or spill the beans, or all points inbetween. But what I do tell you has to be in English, universally understandable.

Post pics when you have it installed. I've never seen how an after market HUD looks like (the device and the "screen").

I too am curious, I've been thinking about it for the last few days. Not sure how it would look in my W221.

On the W222 the windscreen is different in case of the factory HUD option. Don't know how big a difference does it make though.
