Hi all, looking to get an obd2 reader to allow me see any fault codes that crop up before speaking to the dealer, or for self diagnosis. Was thinking about the icarsoft 980 as a Mercedes specific device. I notice however, that the car manual gives dire warnings about connecting things to the port - is this scare tactics to keep us in the dark or what? Any advice from the automotive sparks amongst you appreciated.

The warning is very real - you can screw a car up via an OBD port with the correct equipment being used incorrectly. However, connecting diagnostic equipment and using it correctly is fine. The icarsoft 980 is recommended by many and does most things

Your C200 needs to be post 2001 (petrol) or post 2004 )diesel) for the i980 to work.
That caught me out...it's no good for a 2002 diesel!

I'm ok on that score (2014 w205) but I wonder if icarsoft the website highlights this. Will check and contact them if not. Thanks for the info.
