Good afternoon ,

I am the 2nd owner of a W210 estate that has FMBSH from the supplying dealer . Book all stamped etc .

I am popping in to see them with regard to minor rush issues ( no surprise there then ) and I am going to ask if I can have copies of all of the old service records as the original owner threw them away when the dealership told him they were not needed .

I only want them out of interest really and wanted to know my rights on this as I am now the legal owner .

Any suggestions or can they be obtained by a helpful member on the forum who can access the dealership network

Many thanks

Martin

As they contain information about the car and not an individual I would assume there is no issue with having a copy of them - provided the system can provide them.
Slightly related - VOSA will provide you with all MOT history for a vehicle including the advisories or reasons for fail, provided you have the registration and current MOT certificate number.

If you are now the owner of the vehicle most dealers will not have a problem and are helpful in providing any bits of history they may have on system for that vehicle.

Shouldn't be a problem.

very usefull info

i didnt know that im defo gonna give it a go tar m8...

My experience with this recently was that the dealer would not give me copies of the invoices, citing the data protection act. This was a VW/Audi dealer though so MB may be different. I never did figure out why the car was serviced at the dealer of a competitor marque.

What made it slightly farcical was that I had taken the last eight years of invoices from the same dealer with me to show I already had the personal information, but it didn't seem to matter . They did tell me what work was carried out though, which in reality was what i wanted, but it would have been nice to have the bits of paper to back it up.

Phone Mercedes head office at Milton Keynes- they are more than helpful in these matters. :thumb:

I see lots mentioned about this. Is it a service they offer for free or is there a charge?

Here in NZL so long as you have the permission of the previous owner the Dealers will provide the old invoices without the prices.

I have obtained most of the service records now but will try Milton Keynes incase there records cover the delivery and 1st few years .

Nice hat by the way WDB - ps how are the Corgi's

I went through the same mill 2 years ago with MB Brentford, who quoted Data Protection as the invoices had the previous owners name, address and phone number. I told them I had all these - eventually they agreed to print off the invoices, cut off the top and mail the rest to me! So, I have the details of the services on short bits of paper - plus a copy of the original V5, the delivery invoice and a few other bits the first owner gave me! Shows what muppets MB dealers can be!
