Octane Booster ?

A query...

On the mongol rally, we'll be driving through places where the standard fuel is 78ron.

I don't want to tinker with the timing, so was thinking of buying a box of octane booster bottles. Some claim 5-10 ron increase... but is it of any use?

Ideas/suggestions?

I used Millers CVL and also Forte octane boosters - not sure if the Forte product still exists..

Do they actually make any difference?

I.e. if I take 78ron fuel, add a 10ron, booster, will it really be 88ron fuel? (assuming no particulate matter, which is my other worry)

If I understand it correctly, Octane Boosters will increase octane No by 5 to 10 POINTS ie increasing 78 RON by 10 points will make it 79 RON.
