OK, I have had my 220CE for a couple of months now, and every time someone else notices, I  cant give them an answer.
So why are the drivers and passengers mirrors on a CE different sizes?
Are they supposed to be?
Are all E classes like that?

And can I get some with indicators built in <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/wink.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=';)'>

Yes, they are suppossed to be like that!

Most modern Cars have different glass in the drivers and passenger side mirrors so that the perspective is correct considering one is furthur away from the driver than the other.

Your E class is not alone in actually having a different size and shape mirror. The all but latest VW polo ('97-2000 ish) also has odd size mirrors as do other some other cars, but not as noticable as some of the 80's/90's Benz's.

I suppose the answer is to do with perspective and that you use the passenger side not just for driving but for parking too, hence with a different need, has it's own design.

If anyone knows better, please let us both know!

Hi,

My old 190E had odd shaped mirrors as does my dad's W124, I thought the more modern Benzes have symetrical wing mirrors, my 'C' W202 looks to have the same left and right.

Agree with Steve, my 190 has different shape mirrors....very strange idea, and neither of them are particularly good!!! <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/sad.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':('>

One is square and one is more rectangle, yes??

These mirrors were used before the aspherical technology was suitable for mass production... Basically, gives you a better rear view for the size of them, where as the new mirrors are 'curved' so the have a better viewing angle and can be symetrical. <img src="http://www.mbclub.co.uk/iB_html/non-cgi/emoticons/smile.gif" border="0" valign="absmiddle" alt=':)'>
