Ok so it's late Friday night, but i need some opinion on a new office chair. As i work loooooooooooong long hours sitting at my pc because of my job. I need/looking for a new office chair that everone will say, that is so comfy you should buy X?. Leather/fabric i dont know? I have a fabric semi exec chair which is wearing. Do tempur do chairs? oh and it has to be a little bit sexy, not Parker Knoll-ish
Please save me the time of trawling through endless thousands of Furniture companies.........
Nobody sits like this do they

I dont want comfy.. i want Ultra Comfy! HELP before i go to Ikea and suffer later on!

Not able to recommend a specific ultra comfy chair, but able to share my experience.

When I first started working from home I had a freebie office chair that the other half's company was disposing of (few hundred quids worth). When it broke I replaced it with a £35 chair from Makro, which shamed the first.

When the company I've just left moved to new offices in Canary Wharf, everyone got a chair that were supposedly £1,000 each!! Could never get as comfy as my Makro chair though. Just goes to show that comfy doesn't necessarily mean flash or expensive, so I'd make sure you sit on plenty before making your mind up.

IIRC there is a really nice looking office furniture shop opposite the G-MEX in Manchester. Maybe worth a visit if you're up there anyway.

mmm see what u mean, this is the sort of info i need cheers BD.

I used to love sitting on those ergonomic (backless) chairs at a place i used to work at. Now i have a leather 'captains' swivel chair, although i find myself not using the backrest much as i sit more upright at the pc.

Rumble: for how long was u sitting? just curious?.. i tried one of those before they got into argos seemed ok but i'm a fidgety toerag!, for posture what would you give out of 10 and the same for comfort??? ooh what u sitting on now??? as u USED to sit one of those is it more comfy?

SEM most of a working day, was great for the posture took a bit of getting used to but i used one for over a year 9/10 for posture, 5/10 for comfort at the start moving to 8/10 after a few weeks!

10/10 is hard to achieve of the ergo chairs as everyong loves back support as a comfor because you're taking some weight off your muscles. So unless you're fit and healthy like a greek god (not me anymore, well never was to be honest) i wouldnt go for an ergo-chair lol! :D

How about a swiss ball! one of those big inflatables from the gym, they are fantastic to sit on and you can get different sizes to make sure your feet and legs are comfy!

When i get out through the thick fog here i'm going to have a good look around and test some

Update: tried all the chairs in Ikea, some poorly made some expensive ones were ok (wide).. Still looking

Got mine from the gypsy man at the boot sale (rear of lorry , nudge nudge etc) its high backed and leather, and as i spend most of my time sitting with my feet up on my desk, with my keyboard on my lap, it has proved to be very comfortable except for the one time i slid off and bruised my coccyx...

So, as everyone has said, expensive is not always best ....

Handy to know that Ian, i gave him £20 for it !!

This is a great chair but very expensive, it is the MB of chairs and does help with desk ergonomics.

I know that they can cost anything upto £2k per chair. I used to visit a lot of corporate companies and they had floors full of them.

I got my office chairs from Office World and one from B&Q during the summer sale. Paid around £40 and they are like the leather one pictured above. They are OK but I find I need to use the hex key to tighten the armrests every couple of months, must be as I lean on the arms when I'm getting up from sitting.

SEM - Have you found the right chair yet, or still looking?

I'm after one now

The arms on mine are giving up.

I quite fancy the look of the Argos one posted above - but it's got no side-arms :(

SEM - how did it go at Viking?

Viking were hopeless (still looking), yep your right fuzzer with that dack chair, they look good but are uncomfy after a while. I'm such a fussy whatsit.. now looking at this new chair, trying to find a uk supply co. Has to be a bit sexy looking because of the job i do. I'm less fussy buying a car as i know what i want
