Official Mercedes Rear Subframe Extended Warranty (Multiple Models)

Had mine inspected last September, clean bill of health, thankfully, but the service guy told me, that it would be a free replacement, if needed, Taunton Mercedes was the dealer, if that helps anyone.

Yes to the subframe replacing, No to any expectations from the illustrious Mercedes Benz Car Company.

Until Mercedes sort out the issues with the rear sub frames so they can be inspected internally these safety critical components have a finite life.

Just got my 54 plate C180K a few weeks ago and didn't know about this issue. The subframe looks like I'd expect but as the rot starts inside it's got me a little concerned. Does the 203 coupe subframe suffer from this issue? Has anyone had a successful subframe replacement done FOC on a 203? Has anyone got experience of MB retailer in Hull?
Sorry for all the questions but I'm new to the brand.

If your subframe is good and you want to extend its life, clean the ends inside and out, the best you can with picks and wire brushes, spray a load of rust inhibitor in there, then plenty of black paint, until it starts running out, then you will need to make something to block off the open ends, I used thick plastic film, drift stitched to the wheel arch liner.
