yours was made in 06/2003 and the fault was present upto 09/2003 so yours could be at risk, look at your radiator and try to match it up to this image.

Is this dot visible from under the bonnet or would we need to get under the car to see it?

I notice it's said that the fault was present up to 09/2003.

I took a look at my radiator today and it is a Valeo, yet has a date of 11/2003 for the radiator, so I wonder if this is a radiator which wouldn't be affected?

BlackC55 has kindly looked up my VIN and confirmed that my car isn't one of those affected by the radiator issue. So it looks like I've got the later modified radiator.

Yes it's some relief.

The reason I were wondering is occasionally at lower speeds I get a noise which to me sounds like resonance through the exhaust, which will go if I come off the throttle or give it a little more and last night I were getting a quite a shaking, almost like a misfiring which then went when I came off the throttle, but couldn't really identify one or rule out the other.

No grinding or groaning noises though.

I still have my old AFT, so maybe I could get that tested anyway.

Morning All, i have just bought a cheap 2002 E320 CDI (OM648), to keep me going whilst my BMW is in the garage (again). This is my first ever Mercedes and the car is a bit of a wreck, but i will spend some time bringing it back to its former glory. The car has the symptoms of a faulty gearbox as described in this thread, but also has another couple of faults that i plan to fix next week when the parts arrive (throttle pedal position sensor - replacement pedal and sensor and M55 error - 4k7 resistor mod), and i hope that this clears up the gearbox like symptoms the car is suffering right now. I am crossing my fingers here...

My questions relates to the chassis affected by the Valeo issue. The chassis on my old car (made December 2002) is a W211.026 and this chassis code was not listed in the service bulletin as a being affected (From the service bulletin these are Model 211.065/070/076/083/265/283 Up to Production Date 09/2003) Can anyone confirm?

I plan on getting the gearbox serviced anyway as it has done 120k.
