Slight mishap in the kitchen. A bottle of wine slipped through my hand, bad enough in itself but it caught the edge of the granite worktop!

Bottle survived but took a 3-4mm chip out the granite

Now looking for repair solutions. Worktop is Galaxy black with chamfered square edge. Any suggestions gratefully received

Was it a heavy bottle? If not, that makes me worry for my tops, not that I go out of my way to drop my wine, but it has been known later in the evening.

Nothing special, just a Chianti ..

Your household insurance may cover this - if an invisible repair is not possible then replacing the worktops could be a big £££££

I say Araldite as I did the self same thing. I was fortunate in the fact that the chip stayed in one piece.

The chip disintegrated, might have been easier if the damage was slightly bigger. As you say simply glue it back on. But no, nothing left to salvage. It defo needs filling somehow.

Oh believe me it would! This piece is large and shaped, so not a 'standard' cut, so to speak. :wallbash:

You can by a granite repair kit, it's like granite paste/filings with an epoxy resin that you have to put into the chip but you have to work quick. With it being on the edge you might have to tape a straight edge to it to rebuild the chip shape so to speak. B&Q and Wickes used to do the kit but I guess it depends if they have your colour. Mine is starlight granite and it filled a chip perfect you would never know it was there. If that fails there's a specialist German granite place in Brighouse west Yorkshire that have a good reputation for repairs I realise its not near you but they might be able to send you something if all else fails. I can't remember he name but it's got a German ring to it so I'm sure google would reveal all.

Hope that helps and good luck

Come on Peter, lets see a photo of the kitchen in all it's glory - a pleasant change from cars.

You show me yours and I'll show you mine.......

I'll go first if you like.

LOL That looks just like our kitchen after No2 child has just made herself a quick snack!

My Kitchen looked a bit like that earlier due to me mending the amplifier for my KEF subwoofer in there.

Worked though...much to the neighbours annoyance, I guess. A double dose of Skrillex album, Bangarang was a decent test...
