As a cyclist, and a motorist, I could not disagree more. You seem to be viewing motorists through rose tinted spectacles, and unfairly viewing cyclists as problematic.
So for example, 1.5 million drivers are uninsured. Of insured drivers, many are aggressive, many are inept, and I would say almost the majority, are inconsiderate to the point of danger, towards cyclists.
On the contrary, as a driver, as a pedestrian, and as a cyclist, I have extremely rarely encountered any element of danger, or discourtesy from a cyclist.
To the earlier posters who seem to be very anti cyclist;
I have found drivers antagonistic towards me as a cyclist for the most stupid of reasons. "you don't pay road tax" is a common refrain, however, I pay a lot of road tax. Many cars however do not pay road tax due to their emissions.
Then there's the old chestnut about 'cyclists aren't insured' well I am, and if you're an inconsiderate or dangerous motorist, be advised, that it's for my protection as much as yours, so I have legal support to provide recourse in the event of an incident. Many of my fellow club riders have similar cover, which comes free with membership of various cycling associations.
I find the aggression of motorists towards cyclists to be abhorrent, and dangerous, since it seems to incite motorists to effectively threaten and jeapordise cyclists lives. I guess we are all entitled to our own opinions and views, however lack of consideration or respect for cyclists, can lead to manslaughter when accompanied by ill advised or impatient driving.
