We all want more economical cars but nobody is about to prove Newton wrong just yet Nice clean air to breathe is kind of important too!

If indeed air quality was an issue under Euro 3 regulations.

Part of the problem of particles is due to the use of direct injection diesels now, they produce more due to less perfect fuel mixing, thus then require traps to catch the particles.

I would be happier concentrating on efficiency and reduction of fuel use.

Indeed, if you use half the fuel in the first place you are starting your clean air battle with half the emissions.
