oh dear...

No way. That will never be legal. Think my registration plates will be nicked if that happens ;)

There was a really nauseating article yesterday in the Sunday Times with the idiot known as Brunstrom. He really is a cretin who should be manning a school crossing, not CC of a police force.

He has an obsession with speeding that really should be moved onto dealing with real crime. I'm sure that earlier on in the year, he accepted that the war on the motorist had gone too far, but clearly he's changed his mind again ... he really should get a refund, 'cos this one's f&*%ed :D

I liked the bit about bringing it into "core police work", crikey!, round my way you would think that setting such traps and prosecuting folks "WAS!" core police work.

Why is it that such leaps in technology are never targeted at the proper criminal / antisocial end of the police priority spectrum?. Christmas 2000 I get whacked from behind at 40MPH and driver admits!, I mean admits!, to playing with, looking round at, and feeding her children apples into the back of her car. Does she get prosecuted?, nope. But, you unwrap and nibble a Kit Kat and its £60 please and 3 points.

Rant over!

Portzy.

Just get a 'Road-Marking Vehicle'............ (a high-speed one would be good)

You can work out the rest yourself.........lol.........

Time for clone plates that resemble an identical vehicle... LOL  ;) :D

Hi,

Whilst this smacks even more of '1984' if it were only used to get untaxed/uninsured vehicles of the road then I'd say yes ;) ......but, unfortunately, we all know that won't be the case  .

If Labour get their way you'll have to buy a new car for every journey  as the continued monitoring would mean that every trip over 100yds will result in so many penalty points  that you're car will have to be crushed  . Good way to keep the economy turning over though!!!

Cheers,

And I suppose these cats eyes will still work at 3.00 am when you are the only one on the road - coz speeding then would be really dangerous, wouldn't it!!

Whereas the drunk who staggers along at 10mph, all over the road will be left to go on his merry way.

This is the sort of 'policing' you get when statistics/clear-up rates take precedence over real crime solving (which might take a little bit longer - so sod that!).

Again, I'd be surprised if it was possible to implement the technology with any usable level of relability. I mean, come on, we can't seem to lay a road surface that lasts more than a few months - what are the chances of embedding delicate electronics into the road surface?

Is it illigal??, is it not a breach of the European Convention on Human Rights??

typical only the people who update the dvla will be done so the uninsured and idiots out on the road will get away with it
what is happening to this country
you do 35mph in a 30 and mr camers is waiting
but when an old lady gets here handbag nicked all the police are not around

The biggest joke of that article and Burnstrom is the following quote...

Sky News said:
Mr Brunstrom says the new devices are needed to help control Britain's "lawless" roads and motorways.

The guy is an idiot.

They would not be so "lawless" if TrafPol numbers were not cut, and less time was spent on form filling and less dependancy on speed cameras to start with ...

As kids we pulled up cats eyes out of the road for the glass marbles  , wont they be an easy target for lump hammers! or will it be a case of cameras watching cameras
