My wife has been driving my r129 this week for school run as her car is in the garage for some TLC.

Today she rang me to say the brake handle had broken off but hand brake was off.

I said good so when you get to the school do not put the handbrake on. But 20 mins later another message popped up on my phone saying sorry I forgot and pressed the pedal for the handbrake. 😩

luckily I was nearby and went out with some pliers and other tools.

a standard plierwas enough to grip the metal bar that was sticking out and I could release the handbrake.

seems part is readily available for about £45 and will be fitting it soon

on the plus side on the way home I enjoyed watching the car as I followed it home. I still think it is a fantastic car to look at but I am biased 😁

remove cover
Undo cable
Pull out old hand brake handle
Insert new brake handle
Put cover back on

10 min job and 8 of those were trying to get the bottom 2 fasteners for the cover back in properly.

Pictures are always side ways when uploading from a mobile phone. 5D0F3D04-24FB-4E2B-A542-00716C633528.jpeg

FTFY :)

Watch out for your wife she doesn't yank the other rod to hard and you'll be in a lot of pain as she has a firm grip. ;)
