Assyst is telling me I need to add 1 L of oil at next refuel, but there is still 3000 miles to go the an A service. That sound normal or should I be a bit concerned?

Secondly, what oil should I add? I did look at the interactive manual but it goes on about "particulate filters" anbd stuff!

Car is a B200 CDi

Adding oil is normal. MB say 1L per 1000KM is ok. I realise it is alot of oil but that is the recomendation from MB.

Add the oil that they used at the last service. If it has not had one ask your dealers parts dept for the correct oil by giving them your chassis number and they will be able to look it up and see if it has particle filters or not. If it has a filter LOW ASH oil must be used.

How many miles has it done, and has it been serviced before?

I wouldn't be unduly worried that it's used some oil. I've had to top the ML (diesel) up between services. When I mentioned it to the service advisor he said it was completely normal.

He gave me a printout from some system or other which specified the point at which there might be an issue, and it was something like 1 litre per 1000 kilometres, any less being fine.

If it's never been serviced before, double check what the dealer would use. Will probably be low-ash fully-synthetic if it's a Euro 4 diesel, but your dealer or somebody else around here may give further advice.

SNAP!!

Thanks for the reassurance. Never did it in the C class, hence my question!

Called MB and they advised Mobil 1 Fully Synthetic

Add the litre of oil and the assyst service indicator will extend the next service beyond the 3000miles now showing:D :bannana:

Nope! Decreased a bit if anything!

Obviously someone in the MB service department needs a bit more "spends" for their holidays......
