Oil grade issue, Vito 119CDI sport BlueTec 2019

My Vito recently serviced, oil and filter change at 13,000 miles. The service center used 10w40 228.51 oil. The engine now rattles on startup when cold and hot untill the oil gets round. My owners manual states 5w30 engine oil. The Mercedes Van service centre say they have used the correct oil and the noise is normal. I have rung around a few other Mercedes Van centres and they say they would use 10w40 but when I ring a Mercedes Car service centre, they say they woul use 5w30 on an oil cahnge.

Before the service it was fine, no issues.

Tthe first 3 numbers ofthe engine code are 651 and going on the oil spec sheets on this forum I cannot find any oil recommendation for 10w40 in this engine..

Can anyone offer any support please.

228.51 sounds like an older MB spec and I can only assume they used 10W40 because it's cheap. I'd drain it out, put a proper spec 5W30 in and never go near that service centre again.

Thanks for your reply, my thoughts exactly. How many other later Vito's with the euro 6 engine are running around with this oil in !!!!
