OIL LIGHT COMING ON - C240 Sport

Does anybody know what the problem is, I am in the middle of buying a 1998 C240 Sport and have noticed that the oil light is coming on intermitently and showing a High led light also, have checked oil level and it seems ok, should i stay away from this car or could it be a faulty sender or something minor that can be fixed.
Any help would be most welcome.

It probably is a faulty sender, but why take a chance of further trouble mate.
There are plenty of other cars to choose from-Stay Away.

High is very bad. Worse than low.

Put the car onto a flat surface and dip it with the dipstick and see how much oil is really in there.

On a C240 it takes 8 Litres , yes 8 litres.

If the level goes over the red mad tab on the dipdtick don't touch it with a barge pole as who knows what damage has been done to it.

If its ok and you still want to buy the car , get the car checked by a dealer for the sensor.
