Oil Pump/Pressure relief valve ??

Can anyone tell me if the pressure relief valve on a e200 1994 w124 is enclosed into the oil pump or if it is accessible.

My oil pressure sits between 4 and 6 bar and I suspect that the relief valve is to blame. I would rather not buy the pump if it were not necessary.

your oil pressure guage should read 3 bar (I wasn't aware the dial went up to 6 bar) at anything above 1500 rpm

there's a photo of ours at tickover - although the pressure drops slightly once the engine gets fully warmed up

Thanks Andy.........the dial's not the problem (it only goes up to three). I have tested the pressure with a testing unit which shows it to be 4 to 6. I think the relief valve is stuck, or jammed which is causing the oil pressure to ghewt that high
