Having used info forum for some time, often very usefully , Thanks to all contributers! Decided to post so I can add my penniesworth or maybe more. Vehicle CLK A208, Year 2000 Avantgarde, some Rust but gradually improving.

Latest issue Xenon Head light auto leveling.
Problem: drooping beams both sides and together. so very unlikely to be issue at head lights mechanisms themselves.
Observations: Disconnecting the sensors in the suspension RHS front causes both sides to dip this was noticed after suspension work and the Garage failed to reconnect the sensor!. This was reworked with new arm / linkage from the MB dealer - not two expensive - Result all good after realighment, required as I had tweeked the adjusters in the fault finding. Recurent intermittent issue with beams dropping to point to low.
Assumed front unit was good. Bought sensor on Ebay new and new linkage and bracket from dealer 25 and 5 Euro. Reworked and all appeared good for a couple of weeks or so. Must recheck integrity of wiring to prove plugs front and rear. In researching found a supprising bit of information that states that the part number for the LHD door mounted seat adjustment module controls the lights ?? (Part No 210 820 77 26)
Can this be confirmed as fact by someone?

I guess it might make sense that a German car would default to the left headlight as the "master" unit... but I can't confirm that this is the case.

Can you get it hooked up to a diagnostic machine (preferably STAR) to see what faults it's throwing up?

This issue is finally resolved a month or two back. The problem was intermittent , so difficult to find. Turned out to be broken wiring in the boot on the wiring loom coming up from the rear sensor through a rubber gromet in the boot floor ( by the boot fuse box module). This was reworked, and corrected the lights issue. I had to replaced some very rusty parts in the process. This included rear sensor , new ( Ebay £30 ) , and replacement link bars to the sensor arms front and rear from Mercedes. Not very expensive and they needed replacement, were very rusted. So all good now having had the lights aligned. Did not get this issue checked on STAR.

Man! Broken wires! So difficult to diagnose. Well done finding that one.
