Old (but new to me) CLK430

Looks like a very nice example :) These are a lot of car for the money....shame they rust the way they do. Had a 230k cab many moons ago, loved it!

Got to Love a 208 looks like a nice example, I've still got my 208 which I still really love even though she needs a little TLC..

Looks great - my boss had one of those until recently! I have the later W209 CLK cab - lovely cars! Come along to Benz on the Green in May (see events section). I'll be there with my CLK - it's in Hampshire so no excuse as I see you live there!!

Thanks for the comments. It is pretty clean apart from some slight bubbling on the front arches. It'll be a weekend car mainly but I'm driving it to work this week to get to know it a bit better, and already thinking about exhaust options! I'm resisting for now but it'll probably be on the cards later in the year.

It’s rare to see a Really well preserved w208. Cherish and enjoy it!!

Nice v8-welcome to the forum.

A nice resonator delete and x pipe insert would be the simplest (and subtle) and cheap way to enhance the in car audio.....

If you're near totton /Southampton I can recommend the powerflow agents there.

That looks fantastic. They’ve always been a handsome car. Enjoy it!

Do you mean the small centre resonator or the main rear silencer?
Totton isn't too far. I have used the Longlife place in Basingstoke for a backbox on a previous car; the place had good reviews and whilst the guy did an OK job, there was no technical thought process behind it. I was getting a mild drove at 1700rpm and when I asked the guy what could be done to reduce it he looked blankly at me. I got the feeling his usual customers were Corsa drivers who just wanted as much volume and droning as possible so the idea of making it quieter didn't compute! It made me wonder if it's worth paying a bit more for a Supersprint and maybe a used box off a CLK55, where there has been a bit of R&D in the design process.

Thanks Bobby :)

Centre silencer

Most (half decent) exhaust fabricators will have either straight piped it or X / H piped many a car I would have expected
Leave the rear and all cats in place for emissions and MOT (unless you want to go for a complete new system)

Thanks for the tip. Do you know if the centre and rear boxes serve different functions (i.e. deaden different sound frequencies) or are they both just reducing the overall volume?
