Hi I am new and need some help.
I hope this is the correct way of starting a new post
I am fitting a OM 606 962 turbo engine in a boat and I need to know a few things.
1 what car can I get a manual solid flywheel from to fit this engine.
2 I am fitting a OM603 N/A mechanical IP what mods can I do to this pump to get the right amount of fuel to give the same out put as the 606 IP. Can I change the elements from the 606 pump to the 603 pump without having it go to a bosch dealer to be set up.
3 What does the vacuum controlled device on the rear side of the 603 pump do it has black vacuum pipes on. and do I need to keep it.
4 Can I just run a vacuum line from the intake manifold to the turbo.
I will possible need more help but thanks for any input.
Thanks Kevin

I don't have all the answers but the 603 pump will have 5.5mm elements and the 606 will have 6mm elements.

To get the same output from the 606 you'll need to swap the elements into the 603 pump, I think 5.5mm elements are only enough for around 130bhp. They can be swapped by yourself however how well it will run depends on your experience.

Have a look on superturbodiesel.com, there is a lot of info for 606 conversions. There is also some videos on youtube of a boat with two 606 engines, I think a company in Bury did the whole conversion. Each engine was tuned to 250bhp with 6mm elements.

You can balance the pumping elements by removing each injector in turn (or have a spare injector) and firing it into a jar for an exact time and measuring the volume injected.
