Due to the sunshine , I had done this job 3-4 years ago so I thought I would remove the actuator again and clean it out .
Turbo shield removed , 3 bolts .
Then the split ring on the actuator arm popped off very carefully you could tie some cotton on it , but I only did this when I refitted it .
Three bolts on the back of the actuator which released it , then I pulled the end of the pcv tube out of the batwing to get more space to free the actuator electrical plug.

Actuator removed , I popped the clips off , spray cleaned the inside with electrical contact cleaner , then added a tiny amount of high temp grease to the worm gear .
Back to together and all refitted with no issues .

Cheers, I need to do this soon. Seems like a good time to do the PCV breather thingy at the same time!

Did yours need re-cleaning after 3 years?

It didn’t need cleaning , (but I didn’t know that until I opened it ) there was very little carbon bits this time , but also no high temp grease left so things should be smoother for a while now .

I wonder, is there a way to literally watch the actuator move as you rev in neutral, to see if it's sticking or hesitating? It should be obvious, no?

Obviously, with the bonnet open, you can see it moving. I wonder if you rev slowly to 2k+ rpm (when warm!), would it not be 'easy' too see if it's behaving correctly?
