Not so much a question but an observation/issue that I haven’t seen anybody else on here have with their OM642 engine.

While poking around my engine looking for leaks (vacuum and otherwise) I noticed that the mount of the intercooler pipe is cracked.

I am assuming that this is a crack in the weld on the exterior of the pipe and not an actual vacuum leak (???) but probably does need to be replaced ASAP before it gives way. I can see from pics from a few months ago, this crack wasn’t there then.

There are some really cheap second hand ones on eBay but will see how much a new pipe is from MB tomorrow morning…

Only recently did the seals on this… can’t wait to do it all again…!

Mine is the same (2008 and 155K miles). Personally wouldn't bother changing it as it makes no difference to how the car runs. Had the car 6 years and the crack hasn't travelled. If it did I would use the old trick of drilling a small hole at the bottom of the crack.
