OM642 EGR deleted - how?

My vito 3.0 V6 has now gone into limp mode with the code P0101 which is MAF. I've only had it for 4 weeks and it's just not right. I gave it a full service last week after the guy before just reset the service indicator which was a bit naughty.
It's going to an indy tomorrow to get diagnosed, but tonight I pulled the EGR out just to make sure it wasn't that simple. It was very clean and came out very easily.EGR.jpgEGR2.jpg
I've G00gled lots of pages but cannot see a definitive way that the EGR is deleted, and there are no telltale signes like on my CLK.

What is the most common way of bypassing the EGR on these engines? Has anyone done it themselves?

TIA

Not done EGR but did delete the manifold swirl flaps with an emulator plug I bought on EBay for £40.
Can you not just replace the EGR. They’re cheap on eBay. [emoji848]

Hi, deleting the EGR is now an MOT fail, not worth the risk.

As far as I'm aware the current MOT regulation means any diesel car will be tested for smoke density, if this passes then you have no problems, a deleted EGR will likely be not visible to an MOT tester and I cannot believe any MOT tester will go out of his way to look for modification. It's unlikely that the EGR removal will cause emission to fail either. DPF removal is a different matter as unless you gut the DPF and refit it will visibly missing on the MOT test, again this is only an issue if the MOT tester actual notices or car fails on smoke test.

.

With regard the MOT it is unlikely that a deleted EGR will be spotted, but I would suggest all drivers who take their diesels for a MOT arrive a short time before your appointment and then rev the car at 3,000 revs for a minute and then repeat it,as you need to get the exhaust gases hot, this will help to pass emission test.

So got the van back today. New MAF and DPF forced regen seemed to have done the trick. It's driving much better than before (esp when the turbo wasn't spinning..) and now when I lift off it doesn't feel as if something is pulling it back.
Had a look at the stats on my scanner and now the EGR valve is moving about. Last night it was stationery at 7%. Possibly the blocked DPF was just clogging up everything. As it was quite easy to pull out, I'll do this annually and keep an eye on it.

My problem is going to be doing the miles to get the DPF to regen. Will keep an eye on the ash and soot levels and take it from there.

I suspect my EGR is faulty on my W211 2006 E280cdi 3 litre V6 OM642.920
Does anyone have the correct Mercedes part number for this device on this engine?

Are you aware that you are posing a question on an area of the Forum that last saw activity 4 years ago?

First I would try a simple diagnostics, it may be operating.
Torque Free on an Android, fed via a EML327 might just show it ranging from 5% (view that as closed) to whatever when you drive.
