E55k AMG Sold / S211 E320 CDI I6 sold W212 E63 6.2 N/A saloon. S212 e250 cdi .
As title 234k miler e320 cdi. Smokes on idle greyish colour. But more black on mid to full throttle.

Had reconditioned turbo fitted and actuator over 1 year and half ago. New not OEM EGR valve fitted. Everything works as should no eml light car doesn't burn a drop of oil. No audible air leaks. I believe it's on original Injectors. Can worn injectors really cause that much smoke. Could it be glooged up swirl flaps. Car never goes into limp mode. Do get a code for fuel regulator pressure to high. What is this and could that cause the smoke. Could you please point me In the direction on to what to have checked over next.

Thanks

Do reseated Injectors need to be coded to the car.

Also if I were to source some used injectors the same brand and of the same engine as my Vehicle would they need to be coded to the car. As I've had 5 of the 6 of the current injectors reseated without coding. Also what's needed to code them. Would a decent version of something like icarsoft do the trick?

Could anyone offer some advice on this issue would be appreciated. Thanks

Coding will do just some fine adjustment, usually can be seen uneven idle etc. If there is lotsa smoke, something else is wrong. Refurbed injectors can be bad too. Pressure related codes are often due to injector leaks (tank line) and control system then is over- or undershooting. Also very popular culprit is fuel quantity valve jamming. Smoking after injector change has been more than one time caused by extra washer on bottom of the injector (old not removed).

Plug in on SDS, there you can do coding, see correction values if injector, make a test for quantity valve and pressure valve. Injector leak test can be done without any diagnostic device. Search for pictures.

Appreciate the reply thank you. Excuse my ignorance but what is SDS. Thanks

Here's what WIS says. In my 2003 E320CDI the injectors did not need coding and just had a '4' in a circle for the injector classification. Note from a certain engine number IMA coding is used.

All injectors have been reseated apart from no6 I believe. The car didn't smoke as much when I had no4 injector reseated. It's only when I had 1 and 2 or 3 I think the issue arose.this was around the time I had the reconditioned turbo and actuator replaced. I still think there could be the double washer issue at one of the injector ports. Need to get it looked at on how the injectors are performing to see if this is the case. Car pulls abs drives so well for a car of it's mileage it's just getting the time to get it into someone with the injector related expertise. No eml or EGR issues. No audible vacuum leaks. It seems to be fuel related. Doesn't burn a drop of oil either.

Car will be going to the car heaven or possibly another owner. But doubt someone would take it on. Shame as the car drives well for age and mileage but the smoke has really worn on me and can't see the sense in spending more money on the car. It wasn't a smooth run in ownership but it served it's purpose quite well. 👍 Going but not forgotten om648 s211.

Wide open throttle......not that CDI diesels have throttles of course!
