My 2011 E Class 250 with OM651 engine has an oil leak at back of engine.
Any known places with these engines that are known to leak?
Thinking timing chain cover, any thoughts.

I have had a good few leak from the rocker cover. you can tell its that because the injector holes fill up with oil.

if it's at the back, it's the timing chain tensioner come loose.
best to fit a new tensioner as they are a problem item anyway.

if the leak is from front, it's the oil cooler.

that's really the only two places 651's leak oil from.
Reviving an old thread but thanks for the great info. My OM651 is leaking heavily. MB II diagnostic already reported lose tensioners. Halfords said its leaking on the chain so I am assuming the tensioner should fix it

So wear in the tensioners can be diagnosed with iCarsoft MB 11.? Good news.....can you share the steps you took with the scanner to check the tensioners please?
Thanks, Jim.

Can the tensioners be replaced in situ or is it trans / engine out job? Thanks.
