I have OM651 engine in C-class S204, 2010 year, 322.000km with still original chain and I just came from my mechanic (10 years or cooperation with him) and I asked him if it is clever to buy newer S205 C-class with OM654 engine...
He told me: avoid this engine, I am starting to see a lot of big problems for owners that bought it new in 2019 and have now from 150.000km to 200.000km. Up to 150.000km it is all good, between 150.000km and 200.000km some big problems are starting to occur and after 200.000km it has really big mechanical problems that is sometimes easier to replace it with a donor engine.
It is better to buy W205/S205 up to 2018 that has OM651 engine like your older S204 C-class.
That made me disappointed because I was looking to buy S205 from 2019/2020 220CDI with OM654... He told me, if you want to have this newer Benz better switch to C250 gasoline 2.0 engine.
