OMG...what a birthday I'm going to have!!

It's my 3rd 30th birthday next month and I can't believe what my girlfriend has just bought for me to do on that day!!

She's only gone and bought me the half-day SLS AMG experience at Mercedes Benz World. :bannana: I still can't believe it...in just over a month I'll be driving one of these

MB World state on their website that you get a couple of hours in a 'normal' AMG followed by an hour in the SLS (it's still stretching it calling 3 hours a '1/2 day'!). However, when she booked it they said in reality it'll be the other way round and I should get a couple of hours in the SLS...but either way, I can't wait! :bannana:

As mentioned on another thread, one thing I don't quite understand is the pricing model. Even if you get two hours rather than the advertised 55 minutes in the SLS, with the remaining time beng spent in another AMG, the £1050 price still seems high, bearing in mind that one could opt for two 1-hour SLS driving experiences back-to-back, plus a 3-hour half-day AMG Experience, giving 2 hours in an SLS and 5 hours' driving in total for just £935.

I appreciate that the cost is not a consideration when someone's generous enough to treat you to it as a gift, but have you any idea as to what accounts for the hefty price differential?

Yes, the pricing does seem like it smacks of taking the piss - but I will reserve judgement until I actually see what the experience is like and whether the promise of longer in the car materialises (and if you get to do anything different to a normal experience). It really is a once in a lifetime chance as I don't see myself being in a position to buy one of these for quite some time yet!

And the other half doesn't do too bad out of me when its her birthday but to be honest, this would have been a significant cost to her so I am feeling extremely grateful and lucky!

I look forward to reading your write-up. I treated a friend of mine to one-hour AMG Experience a few weeks back as a belated birthday present. He was driving the C63 estate (familiar territory for you) and he thoroughly enjoyed it. The instuctor was excellent, clearly a highly skilled driver yet very relaxed in his approach and keen to ensure that we got the most out of the experience.
