tell if the brakes are waering out? any ideas

get a torch and have a look at the pads. If there is no pad material left then they are worn out. But by this time the warning should have shown on the cluster.

They also have a specific measurement from MB too. I Can't remember what the ML measurement is.

Drive to your local dealer and get one of the techs to have a look. He should be able to use his jugement and tell you how much they are worn.
