Does such a place exist ???

2006 CLK320 CDI om642

Its getting a bit leggy 115k and running a bit rough, needs work to the suspension as well. Im not that inclined to throw money at it bit by bit. Id rather just take it somewhere and get everything done to try and make it better than new. Just for peace of mind id rather get the flaps sorted and maybe get the egr deleted and possibly a turbo upgrade. Im not bothered about more power as when it hits its more than enough ! I would just like it a bit more progressive instead of all or nothing what it is now ? Also can anything be done to a early 7g as I find the box rather annoying ??

Anyone know of anywhere in the south east ? is it worth a word with the likes of Terry et al or is a more specialist "performance" place likely to be better ???

Cheers

A proper remap is essential if you want to get the best out of it, makes it much more usable - MSL, GAD etc will do this and you advise them what you want out of the car - it isn't always about more outright performance, it can be done to improve driveablility. They could delete the EGR at the same time as this has to be done in the ECU. You can delete the swirl flaps by using the 4.7k Ohm resistor trick on the flap motor connection.

Have you tried the gearbox adaption reset?

Thanks. Car already had a remap of unknown origin. I'm loath to take it to a Straight remapper due to the lumpy running. I don't think there is much wrong just sludgy.

I've done the gearbox reset before and slightly better but what makes the biggest difference in resetting the fuel trims - is there a trick to do this or obd only ?

If its already been re-mapped then you need to get to the bottom of the lumpy running before doing anything else - check the live data streams using a decent reader would be a start, getting it on STAR would be next. Otherwise it would be cheaper to pile some fivers to about a foot high then set light them.

Exactly :)

It's has been on star and no faults are logged, the indie I went to didn't seem to be interested in any further fault finding. Ive got a new glow plug controller on the way and the updated turbo seal jobbies to fit as there is some form of oily stuff under the fuel rail (don't think it's fuel)

Have you checked the PCV valve, the rubber diaphragm hardens with age. When I changed mine the car was definitely smoother.

I've bought the red bung on the end but will probably just buy the whole updated pcv after reading all the other threads yesterday :)
