Thanks for messing up a decent world:D

I'll start by nominating Ft Lt Geoffrey Wellum DFC (Battle of Britain Pilot)

Sir Hugh Dowding

I know 'the few' were on the front line but their courage would have been in vain without the aircraft and organisation put in place over the preceding years.

A few individuals are the right people in the right place at the right time to significantly affect history. Dowding was such a person.

You have to thank hitler...

.. after all he did kill hitler

*this is a joke by the way*

just in case the cotton wool club get a bit foamy at the mouth :D

If I may interrupt the thread to explain my earlier reply.
Back in the early 1970's I was rather ill and had to be rushed from the local hospital to a specialist neurological hospital late one night.
A nurse who was just about to finish her shift volunteered to accompany me on the 40 mile journey.
About a week later a doctor took it upon himself to give me a lumbar puncture and it saved my life.
A couple of weeks later, when I was conscious and being pushed around in a wheelchair a hospital porter spent about £0.60 of his own money to buy me some tobacco and cigarette papers - thanks to him I learned to use my hands.
Each of these people thought they were just doing their jobs - but they helped me to survive and, I hope, helped me to a position where I can help others on their life journey.

Do you know anything about Guru Nanak?
His teachings of Kirat Charo and Vand Chakko would go a long way towards sorting out the problems of today.

Winston Churchill, for standing up against Hitler.

(...and for giving us all those witty quotes :) )

Apart from offending about 2/3rds of the people on here (roughly 2/3rds of people have some degree of or type of faith) your comment says SO much more about you and your understanding of yourself and life. I can't see Electricity or Gravity but I don't pretend they don't exist....

............... I can't see Electricity or Gravity but I don't pretend they don't exist....

Guess you never turned a light on or dropped anything then...

There is a popular notion that organised religion causes more conflict in the world than it solves, there is plenty of evidence to back this up.
It is my opinion however that people cause the conflict, and religion is one of many common reasons given.

Seeing light and seeing something fall is different from seeing gravity and seeing electricity. Just as seeing faith is impossible but seeing for instance Banardo's, the Red Cross or The Salvation Army's good works is an outward indication of what faith can inspire people to do.

Re your comment about people cause conflict not Religion; I agree as none of the major faiths support terrorism etc.

A free world dear man, in which we are all entitled to an opinion, although religion in many forms would deny that freedom.

My point was that religion (in my opinion) has a lot to answer for.

When the last politician and the last priest shoot each other, there will be peace on this earth:)

Disagree but understand why you have that opinion

When the last politician and the last priest shoot each other, there will be peace on this earth:)
Hope you are joking!

I guess we'll agree to disagree:)

I would like to thanks all our Boys and Girls in the armed forces keeping us safe :thumb:

A very reasonable response:)

I was not joking about the last politician and last priest, but I realise my wish is a futile one; the politicians and priests always use others to fight their battles, and they are always "right behind them" (at a very safe distance:mad:)

Enjoy:)

If politicians and religious leaders had to send their own children to war on the front-line, there would be no wars......
