As the title suggests, my first two weeks as a Merc owner have not been all that great but only time will tell right?

Week one should have consisted of getting used to the park brake etc but instead it ended with my parktronic dying (red blocks) and a 6" nail on one of my new rear tyres and the key fob refusing to lock the car. There is rust under 1 rear wheel arch and down both edges of the two front doors.

I was lucky enough that the tyre was not destroyed and nail came out, replaced batteries in fob and it works (why is the proximty so poor?) and the parktronic worked 1 day this week.

My car before this was a 1.8 Accord, although it's a drab car both inside and out the vtec engine is great. Is it the weight of the C200K versus the Honda which makes it feel so slow?

Anyways, for some reason I keep thinking if I buy a bluetooth adaptor for the prewired phone everything will be alright!?

On the plus side, the merc does feel a more refined & sensible to drive. Yesterday coming down the motorway I was seeing could I get 38mpg - my driving style is a lot less psycotic.

Also, spent ages lastnight giving it a two bucket wash...

Interested to see you have rust on your car.....what year is it? If it's an '04 model, it should have been galvanised and should not have any rust on it....

Aye, car is May 2004 with FMBSH - also noticed last night, the alloy where the arch rust is has lost alot of the top coating. The other 3 are pefect.

Unusual to find rust in a car of this age.......get it down to the local dealers to be dealt with under MB 30 year warranty.....they might also replace the corroding alloy if you are lucky.

I always make sure that the wheel arches on my cars are clean and, since the problems with rust on certain Mercs arose, have treated the lip of the arch with Waxoyl on regular basis....to date have not had any problems with rust...

This link gives info regarding Galvanising

I would also talk with your dealer about the key fob too.

The battery in the fob is changed at each service....

Is is a manual ?

I've never had an issue with any Merc parking brake very rarely use them.

Rust should be covered?

Tyre could happen to any car as could battery on remote.

Car feeling slow probably is compared to a Vtec honda, but then the vtec honda only gets going higher in the revs.

sounds like that arch may have been repaired.

did you buy it from main dealer?

No, the trader was ex-sales manager got laid of in their recent redundancies. Assured me that car was straight and data check on car was clean.

Agreed- I have not had any rust on my 03/2003 C-coupe except where a repair had been done badly!
