Oooh look AMG sunvisor..

Well I thought I'd throw that in, just in case Mercedes wanted to add that to there 'AMG' pack.

Why is it that I'm seeing loads of new Mercedes being classed as AMG's because they have 'AMG sportspack' or AMG bumper styling etc etc.

What an absolute sell out. guess the dollar bill talks the talk.

I blame BMW for successfully launching and marketing the M-Sport range which were then copied by Audi with the S-Line range and Mercedes with the (AMG) Sport.

I'm thought Mercedes used to just refer to them as a "Sport" when I was looking at 203 C's and 209 CLK's a few years ago and as part of that specification the cars came with AMG bumpers and wheels.. now they're branded as AMG-Sport models so go figure it's just a brand.

I've never have nor will refer to my E-Cabrio as being an AMG-Sport because when picking the spec it clearly stated in the brochure that the "sport pack" was an optional upgrade which gave the bumpers, wheels, suspension, lights etc so think some people are just getting the wrong end of the stick thinking that AMG is becoming diluted somewhat, just having to keep up with the competition.

What's for betting now that the M-Performance range of upgrades are going on for BMW that Mercedes won't offer something similar for their next gen of cars?

Daimler are in financial bother, they need to increase margins so sticking what was a premium brand/badge on any old tat to shift it will help.

The blurring of lines has begun already; my pal said to me the other day "You like your Mercs don't you, you can get a C class AMG for £300 a month on lease, why don't you get one?"

I replied 'A. I don't lease cars and B. that won't be an proper AMG, it'll be a pissy 4 pot with some AMG wheels etc'.

He was adamant it was a 'proper' AMG, so I couldn't be ****d to argue...
