As my current vehicle was not particularly economical and I was doing 4-500 miles a week I thought I could do with something a little more frugal... To cut a long story short, a few weeks ago I flew to Aberdeen and collected this:

It drove home, the almost 500 miles, quite well and as it had a short MOT I had to get that sorted.
It didn't need too much doing, wheel bearing, drop links, airbag light, prop shaft mount/bearing ... A clean sheet was gained after a bit more expenditure than expected.

Once I add the purchase price to the flight and MOT work, then it's not a particularly cheap car, but I wanted a 5 pot turbo diesel (OM605) and here it is.

Looks fine to me.
My e240 (w211) isn’t particularly economical around town but it suits me fine (fuel wise) as I never expected it to be.

Very nice, well done

Cheers guys, I think it makes a decent daily and it's averaging around 40mpg for me.
I did think about running it on SVO, but am wary of causing issues, I've heard it can rot the "O" rings for example.

People with zero experience of using alternative fuels love to talk about them & it's usually my-mate-down-the-pub-told-me third hand half remembered quarter true nonsense.

If you want to talk to people who have used these fuels for many, many hundreds of thousands of miles look at the sites below. Lot's of OM605s & 606s there running happily on the 3 mentioned fuels ^^^.

Biopowered - vegetable oil and biodiesel forum - Index or here Vegetable Oil Diesel Forum

P.S. It's BioDiesel (BD100) that can degrade 'O' rings, an issue resolved at a cost of under a fiver by fitting Viton rings.

Cheers neilrr.
I have done tens of thousands of miles on SVO and WVO previously, but mainly in VE engined VWs, which will basically just run on anything with no preparation and no issues.

Had them for over 10 years now...

I sell the 13 O-rings (of 4 sizes) that you'll need, for beer money.

I'll be in touch for a set when I am allowed to use the PM system (not enough posts yet).

No probs.
Azurite blue (366) is a fine colour indeed! I've got a few good spare body panels in that colour.

Great color on that car!
