Me'thinks this could make a nice car with a bit of effort. Needs to be nearer a grand though. What are your opinions on the colour though?

I imagine that if it was running then it would be worth £2-2.5k.
Very good condition CLK320 can be had for £3-3.5k.

So unless you can fix it cheaply yourself I wouldn't bother.

The colour would be fine with me.

There's a few of these engines on ebay for around £750, so if you could fit one of these yourself and get the car for around a grand it may well be worth it.

'suspected timing chain failure' sounds both vague and potentially catastrophic, so attempting a repair if you're not 100% confident could mean you'll end up spending more time and money than just buying a working version.

That said i like the colour and the rest of the car in general looks the be in good condition

Its cheap, but at 167k if it was running it might be less than £3k. Is it really worth all the hassle?

For reference GazCaff recently bought a mint 1998 CLK320 with 68k miles for £3-3.5k.
