metallic paint, comand, 7 seats, nappa leather [automatic g/b and A/C assumed as standard]--- common factor ---all stuff that can be seen by the punter--- forget the fancy electronics most of which will be meaningless to the majority.

I also depends where you are in the country.

When I bought my C- Class estate, I bought from new via a dealer in Edinburgh ( I live in London...it's a long story) and he was insistent that I needed to spec a sunroof or I wouldn't be able to re-sell it, but when I told him of my location he switched to saying I should spec air-con instead.

He says only four options add value at resale time (relating to E Class).

Can you guess all four?

I should say, one was a bit odd and not applicable in many cases

It would always be the 4 options the car you want to trade doesn't have

I'd guess - 1. Automatic (well all Mercs should be), 2. COMAND / Nav, 3. Leather, 4. Bluetooth

I was told many years ago that the minimum every Merc should have was:

at least six cylinders

auto transmission

leather interior.

I guess a fourth now a days is climate control.
