Car
Not an MB right now :(
Hi All,

Some background - I was looking to buy a new (ish) car for my wife, we went around looked at a few (GLA and A class) and finally settled on a GLA (see thread - http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/general-discussion/199416-new-class-gla-need-some-info-please.html)

having looked at whats on offer (in used stock) and what we want in the car, I have now realised that maybe going for new might be a better option. This way we get exactly what we want as we'll be keeping the car for at least 6 yrs. So...I need some help with getting some online quotes, I have done drive the deal. What other sites are there that I can get a quote from?

Cheers

Pete

Just used drive the deal for my new e class estate. Absolutely fine and dependable - they get you a price, you agree and and the rest is done directly with the dealer. Could not get close to their price from my local main dealer.

It's been a while since I used them but try Broadspeed.com

Top Gear used to promote them. I bought my ST220 through them some years back.

I always compare Orangewheels, Broadspeed, Carfile, Carwow etc. etc., and DrivetheDeal come out cheapest for Mercedes cars each time.

I then arm myself with those quotes before a visit to my local dealership, who have so far been very accommodating.

Broadspeed are colossus "Inchcape" if your negotiating. End of the month, or even better end of the quarter are your best times

I just went through this on a VW (Tiguan).

I tried the local dealer first who were completely disinterested in doing anything beyond the standard offer on the VW site. Well, not completley disinterested - the car was figuratively pushed to one side and there was a intense push to sell GAP. paint protection and wheel & tyre insurance.

Tried online with Broadspeed, DrivetheDeal and CarWow.

DrivetheDeal were significantly (~£1000) the cheapest. They called me (unasked for) but as soon as I said I wanted a car quickly and didn't want to wait the factory leadtime they refused to discuss any further.

Broadspeed's pricing was confusing. It was so much higher than DTD I assumed they hadn't included the PCP contribution from VW (DtD had clearly detailed this). Turned out they had. Had a discussion with their MD about confusing pricing but he didn't agree.

Ended up using CarWow - different process to the others, dealers send offers against your requirements. Five dealers sent quotes and there wasn't a massive difference but it does seem that the further away they are, the cheaper the price. One thing that was interesting is that is you ask a question you usually get a very fast response - apparently CarWow judges the dealers on speed of response.

Buying a car from a distant dealer fills me full of horror so I went with a fairly local dealer who quoted a price that was there or thereabouts. He hunted through cars in the pipeline that could be got quickly and we settled on one with a couple of little options and did a final haggle on price so I ended up a few £hundred more than the DtD price.

One thing I did in this whole process that is different to what I do normally is I said I wanted the maximum possible PCP package - minimum deposit, lowest mileage and longest term. Last new car I was buying from stock I was almost refused a sale by a dealer as I wanted to pay cash.

coast2coastcars Marlie means.

Yeah, had some very good results with them.

Guys - a quick update. We placed an order with the local dealership in November. With an estimated date of Jan 28th for delivery. This moved quite a bit and last week I got confirmation that the car was actually on route to the uk. All being well we should pick it up on Thursday 31st. Can't wait!!!

We ordered GLA220 AMG line with premium plus and Comand online. Will post some pics once we pick it up

Hope everyone had a great Christmas, and wish you all a very happy and prosperous new year!

Cheers

That's just the car Pete. Great news on delivery too. What colour did you go for?

Happy New Year.

Look forward to pics and review.

That'll be a great little car Pete. We nearly signed for the same model + Night pack and Exclusive pack (perforated red leather & artico stitched dash) but circumstances changed.

It's still an option for us in the future.

Keen to hear how you get on. Though be aware, GLA doesn't seem to have been accepted by many here. :dk:

Enjoy pick up day.

A bit of car porn :)

Guys, here are a few pics of the new car:
