Ordering a new car with Privacy Glass and getting tinted windows? What would you do?

Morning all,

Well, great response from MB. New glass being delivered this week, all being retrofitted whilst they put me in a nice courtesy car.

In addition, they are refurbing my 3 week old wheel that I managed to kerb (first time in about 6 years! :( ) free of charge.

Thanks to all on here who gave me the nudge I needed to push this through. May have just 'let it go' without it.

:D

Great news. However, as has already been said, in case of future repair/replacement/warranty/confusion your electronic data card needs to be updated with MB by the dealer.

Well done

Thanks Chap.

Will mention it to them

Very well done and richly deserved. It was worth persevering. In the few instances where I have had problems, I have found that they have been resolved satisfactorily once the issue had been escalated from the dealer to MB. :thumb:

I hope they do a good job. Personally I think I would have rejected the car but if the job turns out to be spot on then all should be well. Check it very carefully though.

Hmmm what are the chances they'll give me a C63 as a courtesy car? LOL!

We can dream!

Car went in today.

They put me in a brand spanker C250 Diesel with all the toys etc.

Its a nice please to be.

Fingers crossed everything is perfect when she comes back!

The story continues!

Got the car back Saturday. God does it make a difference! It really is chalk and cheese difference. Pure black window from the outside. How did I even consider it before?

HOWEVER, and now my OCD princessness is really kicking in...
checking the car over, all is perfect, driven at high speeds seals are perfect with no whistle.. BUT, the top of the back screen where it meets the back of the panoramic roof doesn't sit flush. I.e the top of my back window sits higher that the back of the roof so is almost a lip. I looked at other examples in the showroom car park and they all sit flush or if anything are slightly sunken.

Of course the missus really thinks I need to let it go this time but I'm really in two minds. I get out of the car and because I 'know' its there I look straight at it. I can just see the top of the glass sticking out ever so slightly when I jump in or out of the car.

MB have been great in replacing the glass... should I just let this go? Does anyone else have the same issue on theirs? I just want my car to be perfect. I raised it just before I left with the dealer and as much as he admitted he could see what I was describing I could tell he thought it was not important.

hmmmmmmm.

If it were me, I would let it go. I would, however, take a couple of date stamp pictures and make a written note, signed and dated just in case anything arises from that…….leak, damage, whatever. For the sake of maybe £50 to get it re-seated further down the line if it continues to bother you is better swallowed, banked against future reasonable good will, if that makes sense.

Really pleased you are generally happy. If it was me, I would want no imperfections on a new car and I would not let it go. But maybe I am too fussy and it is, after all, a matter of what you are prepared to live with. It may be a relatively simple job to realign it and it may prevent future problems when the car is out of warranty. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Thanks guys.

I'm thinking, if it's a pretty simple job then I may as well ask for it to be done.

Gonna sit on it until Thursday when my dealer is back in.

We'll see

"MB have been great in replacing the glass?!"

All they've done is given you what was yours already (albeit having to be given a good prod!)

If it doesn't look right, tell them.

I would have rejected car and insisted on a replacement .
however
At least I would expect the replacement glass to sit flush for you to notice it
Deep down you know it is not right even now!!
