I must admit to being a bit guilty of this with a W212 E63. I justified by classing it as a project though it did cost a few quid more than I would have liked...Genuine question! Why do some people spend 10’s of thousands creating an essentially custom to car to then sell it at a huge loss ?

This would include things sending the transmission to California to be rebuilt to handle the extra power, along with several other unconventional build aspects. It was more about the journey really than the end product, lots of experimentation and hopefully a few other people benefited from my experiences. It was fun at the time and I'd probably do the same again if I had the time and money.
And yes, it was sold at a huge loss though at least it went to a mate.
Must admit I'm guilty of modifying the vast majority of my motors, even if it's only a set of wheels, I've spent 1000s

when I sold them, but to be honest, so what, doesn't bother me at all, that's what I've enjoyed doing.

Sounds like a total nightmare.Lancashire, so a fair way for the parts to travel. As for an idea of what the total spend was then yes, I have an exact figure but it's irrelevant really as it was being done whatever. It did go a bit further than originally planned but it was worth it, at least to me at the time.
Funny - amnesia on my part! I did a quick search but missed those threadsI'm sure this one's been round before.
I suppose back when there wasn’t an AMG available for the E-class coupe you had to DIY it. But this guy got really carried away! Spectacular Mercedes E500 Coupe AMG | eBayforums.mbclub.co.ukThis has been sitting around for a while with no takers. It's a 2011 E500 5.5 coupe with 97k and 4 owners, but recently had £59k spent on creating a 'one of a kind' car :dk:. I know they never made an E63 coupe back then, but still...forums.mbclub.co.uk
