A new dog in the house is not not a luxury. It's one of life's Bear necessities.
I have a friend with a huge (40kg) Lab called Yogi.

We picked this up from the Poodle Parlour on Tuesday wearing her new summer coat.

Polly (Poodle/Border Collie) is much cooler now, but still just 9 months old.

@GillyC63

How's big boy getting on ? No plans to get another girlie as well ? :)
He's doing brilliant buddy, suffered during the heat. We had him at the vets, just for a check up. 20220815_155534.jpgHe was a star & at 4months weighed in at 4 & a half stone. He is sooo loving & friendly, he's turning out to be everything we could have wished for.
He has got traits of all of our last 3 dogues, which is lovely & helps us remember them & smile. As for a little girl to partner him, maybe in the new year but we're just enjoying him atm.

Quick update, been out to the pub today & he behaved impeccably, so proud of him. Continues to grow & consume copious amounts of food whilst letting off love puffs that will have you gasping for fresh air! His big teeth are starting to fill his somewhat large mouth, although some of the needle like teeth still remain. He really is an absolute joy to be around. Full of mischief though!IMG-20220821-WA0046.jpgIMG-20220821-WA0045.jpgIMG-20220821-WA0044.jpg

Just a quick update, Bear continues to get bigger, 5 months old & now 40kg although his weight should start levelling off as he gets older. Has had a problem with his front right shoulder/elbow & has been referred to an Orthopaedic specialist, Nov 1st earliest he can be seen. Still extremely friendly with people & other dogs which is what we wanted. Loves anything that stinks, water, mud & seaweed & jumps straight into the back seat no problem.IMG-20220911-WA0009.jpgIMG-20220911-WA0028.jpgIMG-20220911-WA0029.jpgIMG-20220911-WA0004.jpgIMG-20220911-WA0001.jpgIMG-20220911-WA0000.jpg

One is not amused :)

Fantastic.

Gilly, as you are aware ortho problems are part and parcel of the giant breeds, fingers crossed not too serious, bear really looks like a proper character :)

Hopefully it's nothing serious, noticed him limping for a few seconds & took him to our vet, she referred him as they don't have a CT scanner although they can x ray but we need both to get the full picture. He's really not bothered by it but after losing our last 2 the way we did we want to make sure we catch any potential issues asap. He is a right character alright, he's absolutely nuts but just loves everybody, he really is so friendly it's unreal.

What a beauty, more pics :)
Yes, a few.
There's the cute,

and the less cute.

And regularly we get dead frog impressions.ya-12 Aug 22b.jpg

But I blame my daughter.
A while ago she asked us to look after her Luna for 10 days, while they went to Spain.

We weren't looking forward to eating hairy butties, and grasping steaming doggy treasures.
The thought of looking after a giant unknown didn't appeal.

But she walked to heel naturally.
Working in my office she would walk in, rest her head on my lap and enjoy any attention.
She jumped in the van, would spend a day here and there where I had work, then stop for a beach stroll on the way home.
"We'll pick Luna up this afternoon."
"No rush, leaver it a few days if you want."

Then the house felt empty.
So here is what we have to look forward to.

How is the shoulder?

Last week Mishka was pulling her left rear leg. There was nothing that indicated injury.
The day earlier she possibly been over exercised so could have been muscular, or even growing pains. She is growing pretty fast and the bones must take some adapting.

So no exercise over the w/e, aside from having freedom of the garden. Last eve we took her for a shorter walk and everything looks normal. She is back to mooching in streams and bouncing up to all people and dogs, as far as she is concerned there is no chance she isn't super desirable.

Hopefully Bear will sort himself naturally.
