Hi

Similar to thread below, but I am on the back foot and in need of some help

http://www.mbclub.co.uk/forums/pc-i-t-support-advice-posts/73076-transferring-outlook.html

Reinstalled Win XP on main PC.
Before that I backed up the whole PC (all of the many partitions on it - reason for 'rebuild') onto a Segate drive purchased for the job

So....

The email address book is on the Seagate - but where.

I have found hidden folders, I have looked in username/docs/app data/MS/address book and even ditto for Office and got spam address list in text docs, but no joy with an actual address book

I didn't save it specifically before backing up

So how do I / can I access it it copy across to the reinstalled Office XP on the PC again?

RSVP

Thanks, hopefully

Fabes

what version of Outlook are you using?

Up to 2003 it would normally be a .pab file, found under

C:\Documents and Settings\[userprofile]\Application Data\Microsoft\

It could also be contained inside a personal folder (PST file) in the same location.

Outlook XP (Office XP)

I looked here, but al i can find is a 173kb file with nothing in it

Does it store the addresses elsewhere and access them from here?

Cheers

Did you migrate all the PST files into the new instance of office? If so, have you looked inside all the PST's?

If its outlook express then you can find your address book in the following location;

DRIVE:\Documents and Settings\(user_name)\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book\user_name.wab

Nope

I didn't prepare anything, I cannot find anything (old emails nor the more important address book contents) so I have not migrated anything in

Might have really naffed this up - but the backup as nigh on the exact same size as the accumulation of the drives I copied, so I know/assume its all there.

Becoming more frustrated:dk:

Any and all help appreciated

Outlook keeps its contacts in your PSTs - if they haven't just appeared then you've either kept the wrong ones or they're corrupt...

Well knock me down with a feather!!!

I found both the address book and all the personal folders here

C:\Doc and S\user\Local Settings\App Data\Microsoft\Outlook

and a nice healthy 140MB office data file waiting for me to import (not registering as a pst file!)

I can now have a beer!

Cheers for the help

Fabes
