Outlook "remembers" address - for the "to" field. This is very useful, unless you have a user who does not add people to their address book, then you give them a new computer and they lose all their addresses.....

Does anyone know how to move this information from one machine to another ?

They are using Outlook 2003 with POP3 email - to the move to a new machine was done by copying adn importing the *.pst file.

This sounds like its at work..........
Dont you have an IT department that can assist?
The easiest way to copy e-mail addresses from one PC to another is to send yourself an email with all the addresses attached and then download them all to your new address book. There is probably an easier/quicker way, but thats how I would do it.

PS..........I went to the same school as one of your neighbours......Marty Wilde (AKA Reg Smith).

Don't know whether it helps or whether it will do everything you want, but I have used Wisco BackupOutlook for a couple of years since disastrously losing 2 weeks of emails due to a hard disk crash. I can recommend the product and used it to backup from XP and restore to Vista when I purchased a new laptop. The cost is minimal.

The email addresses are stored on your computer in an Outlook "Nickname" file. Look on the old computer for a file with the suffix .NK2. This is the file you need to transfer to your new PC to keep all the addresses you have already built up. It goes in the same location & if you have already been using Outlook on the new machine it will mean overwriting the file that is already there.

As email addresses change you may find that some of your entries are out of date and you can open .NK2 files in notepad and edit them.

Thanks for that. That was exactly the info I need. This forum amazes me sometimes.
