I hope someone can help please.
When I open Outlook Express, 2 things happen. (1) It continually shows it is receiving message no 4 but goes no further and (2) messages which are deleted keep re-appearing. How can I cure this?
Is there a programme which would allow me to receive/send emails from different email accounts? That is, one which allow messages sent to the Outlook email address to be read.
Many thanks.
ps don't get too technical on me please!

Normal reason for this is that you have a message that it's can't complete the download of for some reason.

Quickest way to solve this situation is to go to your ISP's website and check your e-mail via their webmail interface (nearly all major ISPs have a webmail page for accessing mail on their server directly). Look for a large or unusual looking mail (most likely the 4th from the bottom age wise) read online and delete. Then OE should be OK.

Do you have microsoft office on your PC?

If so, you should have Outlook installed which is a much more feature rich alternative to the express version. Its also much easier to backup and restore.

There are other free alternatives like Thunderbird for example.

Not all office sytems include outlook....office 2007 home and student doesn't for instance.

stevesey has the right answer I think.
