Most days, Outlook stops responding. It will collect messages but not send.

Done Ctrl, Alt Dlt and found that there are two or sometines three Outlooks running in task manager. If I end all of the Outlooks using sytem manager and then relaunch Outlook, messages go OK.

How does this happen, is it a setting problem I may have?

Thanks,

Are you running XP? If so, why not use system restore and go back to an earlier time when it was OK.

Why dont you try uninstalling outlook express and then reinstalling it again. You may have a corrupt file. Just make sure you have your POP and SMTP settings to hand.

Sounds like outlook isn't closing down properly when you click on the red X in the corner.

You don't say which version of outlook you are running or on which operating system.

Running Outlook (not express) on an XP home system.

Not sure why it has several running in task manager, but seems to interfere with retrieving mail???

Is it to do with the way you open the programme? If you double click it could be opening two versions etc. Carefully open one version and see if it is this.

I know its no help but i have a similar problem i receive emails OK but when i send them they stay in the outbox an error message shows up but they actualy get sent???? so as they sit in the out box they get sent every time i press send and receive!

any ideas or is the same problem?

If this is Outlook 2000 update to SP3 for Office 2000

If it's a different version post which you have and if any Service Packs have been applied already (Click on Help/About to find the version/SP numbers)

OK, thats it, McAfee is going out the window, anybody reccomend a good firewall?? Am running AVG free edition for anti virus.

I use Zone alarm, never had any problems so far

Try using McAfee's Live Support http://ts.mcafeehelp.com/

If you connect from the affected machine, their diagnostics should load and check which version you need.

You may then get the update automatically - otherwise ...

Explain you need the updated version of Mskolplg.dll referred to in that thread because you are running Outlook 2000 SP3 and are getting the same problem.

They should just email you the file and installation instructions.

You'll get first line support, don't take any B$ from them if they deny any knowledge of it get a supervisor online.

Alternatively you already have a configurable hardware firewall on your router/modem. If you want a software version for the PC & Laptop I'd recommend ZoneAlarm (unless you want to use Vista) - buy the Pro version.

Was going to ask about the hardware firewall with the router, but thought I better wait a couple of weeks or else may try people's patience:o

Have enabled only my laptop to access the network, and enabled 64bit(???) encryption (excuse my non techie description??) So am I safe from any outside nasties now?? Could I uninstall McAfee Firewall??

Probably

Could I uninstall McAfee Firewall??
I think my feelings about McAfee have been well posted on this site (and others!) but I would recommend you keep a software firewall up - even if it is XP's own
